Has Young Earth Creationism become "a dead horse" as all of the arguments for it have been debunked?

Will it follow the same history as other claims which Christians once made in defiance of science, such as a geocentric astronomy (denying Copernican solar system), immovable earth that neither rotates nor moves through space, human beings couldn’t be inhabiting the Southern Hemisphere and have a soul, etc.?

some good websites for space science?

True or False;

1. Astronomy is a branch of earth science?

2. The atmosphere is one part of the geosphere ?

3. Earth Scientists primarily study the geosphere?

4. An ecosystem is a largely self-supporting, physically distinct system?

5. Biodegradable wastes pose a major threat to the environment?

6. Exploration for oil deposits would most likely be done by an ecologist?

I read recently that our way of dating the solar system, earth etc is not good because radiocarbon dating?

half life only goes back that far. ( I am not good in science, but I love to study archeology and astronomy). I don’t quite understand what I read because I’m no where near an expert about this, but what it was saying was the way our dates were counted, 4.6 billion years may not be correct because I think it said the half life could only go that far. So does that mean that the beginning of our Solar System and Earth could actually be much older. I hope this makes sense to someone out there.
Thanks so much.
Thank you for all the good answers. I appreciate it. So, if I understand this correctly, we can measure the earth’s beginnings, from, for example, uranium-238 even if it went back 9 billion years (4.5 half life x’s 2) Is that correct? Thank you very much for any help. I love to try to understand new things-or at least new to me. lol

Are each of the following earth science statements true or false? ?

Just answer as many as you can – CORRECTLY! lol If you get them all Best Answer (you don’t have to be first with them all) You don’t have to explain why, but that would be awesome if you could explain a few!

1) Astronomy is a branch of earth science.
2) The atmosphere is one part of the geosphere.
3) Earth scientists primarily study the geosphere.
4) An ecosystem is a self-supporting, physically distinct system
5) Biodegradable wastes pose a major threat to the environment.
6)Exploration for oil deposits would most likely be done by an ecologist.
A) Dust raised by the impact of a meteorite on Earth may have blocked the sun’s rays for many years.
B)A hypothesis is a standard unit of measurement.
C) A kg is a standard unit of measurement.
D) Controlled experiments have confirmed the meteorite-impact hypothesis
E) Scientific methods are guides to scientific problem solving.

What are some investigations I could do in Grade 12 Earth and Space Science?

I just started Grade 12 Earth and Space Science, a course taught by an excellent teacher at my school. As a student in the class, my teacher asked me to come up with some ideas that the class could do as experiments/labs/investigations. I do not live in an area that experiences tectonic movement. I’ll accept any experiment/investigation that has to do with: astronomy, planetary science (solar system), recording earth’s geological history, earth materials, or geological processes. Be reasonable and affordable, my class can not go out at night to stargaze for example.
Thanks

1) www.pbs.org Please visit and support the above listed website link I have provided for the World and all of the viewers of this incredibly well documented program to further benefit themselves and their intellectual capabilities. Thank to all who watch and also to teh very well educated people of the “NOVA – PBS” network/broadcasting system. This program covers the actual beginning of our Universe and the science that details it all. It is filled with beautiful pictures as well as a ton of very vital information that is good for all of humanity to learn and know about. Mr. Neil degraysse Tyson hosts this program and he is very intellectual as well as a great source for giving out all of this great information about the mysteries of outer space. Science is the process of reasoning the theories of “down” and “back” from our directly observable effects and short as well as long lasting events to the constantly growing indirectly observable events and the ever more distant and nearly inaccessible past events across the cosmos. If we were able to know the details of the very beginning of our universe alone, then we could reason forward and therefore derive the past events and the most recent events in our cosmic neighborhood and further our understanding of the actual facts that truly foretell the formation of the universe. Please view this with an open mind and I urge all of you to comment if you have any questions that pertain to the contents covered within this very
